And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I would definitely gtf outa there, but these days way too many idiots would stand there filming until the mortal danger was beyond their ability to escape from. Then they would expect some heroic figure to come and risk his life to save their stupid ass.
Isn't there is a similar phenomenon on the Great Lakes? The ice starts to break up in spring, and gets mobile as many floating smallish pieces, and then the wind picks up. Frictional drag from the wind gets the whole ice pack moving, and with a head of steam it starts pushing the leading edge up over the banks. A good time to be well back.
Yes, this is normal on Lake Superior and sometimes Huron and Michigan. There are huge piles of ice on the shores of the Keweenaw Peninsula most springs. There is seldom damage as nothing is built there because this is expected.
Does anybody know the story here?
