  1. Move along, just a little police action here.... nothing to see, move along...

  2. After several false starts, must admit that words fail me in comparing the F-86 to anything. Not unusual when describing products from the North American shop.
My search for words ranks with an old race track class for the less than competitive; S/S/F/F: START/STUMBLE/FART/FALL.

    6. Regardless of their track record, they still look pretty damn bad ass to me. And after the bugs were worked out they downed plenty of NKAF MiG 15's.

  3. Is that some kind of sealant on the drop tanks?

    1. Didn’t the Brits use cardboard drop tanks on certain WWII planes? Think I read that many moons ago.

  5. Nota bene the pilot's helmet logo, before the Air Farce got all politically correct, and back when they bred guys with the balls to go fangs out every time they got the chance.

    1. BTW, about 2 minutes' 'net search reveals this is an F-86F assigned to the 67th Fighter-Bomber Squadron ("The Fighting Cocks") of the 18th Fighter-Bomber Wing, stationed at Osan AFB SK, and flown from there from late February 1953 until the end of the Korean War.

The squadron is still active, and is currently one of two F-15 squadrons in PACAF, stationed at Kadena AFB Japan.

I used to watch that very squadron take off and land when I was stationed over the hill at Camp Butler, and they looked pretty tight, at least until the SR-71s took off on a lunar trajectory and made them look like cab drivers.

      Small world.
