Golden Bracelet of Ramesses II, excavated from his tomb. It's decorated with 2 duck-heads, consists mainly of gold, and a big chunk of lapis-lazuli.

  1. Did the jeweler cast it, or were all those details hand-carved? Looks painstaking either way, but especially the latter.

  2. Honey... I’m going out to the bar with my buddies have you seen my bracelet?

  3. That’s called repousee work, and each gold bead is brazed onto the surface. Lapis was imported from a single mountain mine in Afghanistan, the sole source.

  4. I strongly recommend a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It has one of the most comprehensive and gorgeous collection of Egyptian and Middle Eastern art in the world.

A side vist to the nearby Gardener Museum is also recommended. It is an actual renaissance Italian villa brought to American and decorated in the renaiassance style.
