The crowd on the ground. What you don't see here is one of our cats about ten feet to the left, tail switching back and forth, and drooling for some fresh quail for dinner. She made one lunge, but the quail were way too fast. No contest, the quail win.

ReplyDeleteThey are easier to eat if you take your time and pick 'em off with a .22 headshot.....saves you from picking out the bird shot from the meat....

ReplyDeleteThey're valley quail. The other day I was out early in the morning in front of the house and saw a huge covey of quail, probably 25 or 30. Biggest crowd of quail I've ever seen.
DeleteOur Vancouver Island quail disappeared under the onslaught of poodles on the land. As the poodles died off over the years, the quail returned.
