  1. I wonder if they used their steel pots in similar manners as those of more recent armies.

  2. gal I ran with did several studies in school on ancient personal battle armor. most common injury suffered and survived was getting the unprotected nose lopped off flush with the cheek bones. after it healed, the "silver or bronze cast nose" was used when in public. She relished regaling me with vivid descriptions of wounds and the armor designs used to overcome them. I won't go into the stories she had about the armored "codpiece" and it's necessity. the woman had serious issues about bodily injuries. do not walk, run.
