Who needs a runway?

  1. Its called energy management...working things so that your energy is zero right where you want to land...its great when it works, but a bitch to get right if its at all gusty!

  2. Do a YouTube search for Draco and Flying Cowboys - they do a thing called STOL-drag, that involves something like this.

Draco is\was a work of art - It had a bad landing, got broke, and Mike Patey hasn't put her back together again. Oh, the way she could fly...

    1. Thankfully nobody got hurt in Draco's accident. PAtey has already bought a replacement airframe. His intention is to build a new Draco-X.

Follow his YouTube channel. Loads of really cool things going on there. Especially the 'Scrappy' build.

    2. I'm pretty sure Patey wasnt injured because he simply didnt have time.

      "Back to work!"

I watch his channel any time I start to feel like it's time to knock off for the day. ;P

  4. It's great that he can land like that, but how much room will he need to take off?

    1. Leading edge cuffs, barn door flaps to 40*, droop ailerons, those plus a mild wind equal takeoff in maybe one or two lengths.

Carbon Cubs are heavily modified Piper Cubs. Lightweight, increased Horse Power, plus the aforementioned features.
