I always liked the name of the ship. "After the Doolittle Raid, launched from the aircraft carrier Hornet, President Roosevelt answered a reporter's question by saying that the raid had been launched from "Shangri-La", the fictional faraway land of the James Hilton novel Lost Horizon."-Wikipedia
My father served on both the Shangri-La & Oriskany in the late 50s, Talk about a time waster, I just spent an hour looking through the Shangri-La '56-'57 West Pac cruise book. I still miss him. Thanks.
Man, that's super! Takes me back to the days when I was ten feet tall and bulletproof.
