Two views of incomplete Japanese midget submarines at war’s end, 1945.

  1. In 1945 they were holding in reserve a hell of a lot of war materiel to defend against an invasion of the home islands.

  2. Post war analysis estimated that our original estimates of casualties was short by a factor of 10.

    The Japs had planes, tanks, subs, boats, cannon galore all over their islands.

  3. They had a lot of stuff, but their logistics were so messed up that they had airfields of unflyable planes, armor with no engines, boats but no fuel. One reason the focused strongly on their industrial organization and effectiveness with tutors like Demming. Worked well for them, for the most part.
