And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Is anything better the brutal power of the F-1 engine of a Saturn V’s first stage?
Yes. The F-1b, a new version of the F-1 that, using CNC and modern printing techniques could put out 50% more power than the original F-1. At a savings of 40% of the weight, and significantly cheaper to produce.
But... instead... we are going with some modified Space Shuttle Main Engines, which are actually just reworked J-2 (2nd and 3rd stage Saturn engines) as the main engines for the SLS.
well, I would run with the shuttle SRBs even thought they get a bad rap from the Challenger explosion. that's what happens when politicians overrule engineers. and those engines were re-usable unlike the F-1 and F-1b.
