Once abandoned and overtaken by wildlife, transformed Big Sur home hits market for $7.73M

The current owners saw potential, especially since the house had once undergone a full renovation by Mickey Muennig, a pioneer in California's organic architecture movement and the mastermind behind the design of Big Sur's Post Ranch Inn. (Legend goes Muennig camped on the site of the future inn before drawing up plans.)
They scooped it up and restored the property, giving careful attention to maintaining Meunnig's rustic aesthetic that blends in with the landscape. Now, as their work is moving them out of the country, they're selling 36296 Weston Ridge Rd. for $7.73 million.

With over 5,500 square feet, the main house displays incomparable views no matter which way you turn. Embracing natural elements with the use of organic materials, stunning wood beams play artistically with natural light and shadows, while the magical woodland grounds float seamlessly through the walls of windows, over the polished cement floors and steel frames.

It's got five bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms, all on ten acres.

Located ten miles south of Carmel, it's solidly in the politically lunatic coastal strip of California, meaning everyone is more or less, at best, a Socialist.  If you buy this place, eventually, the state will crush you with fees and taxes, especially as it gets more and more desperate to pay for all the obligations it has promised to the public entity unions.  With a place like this, you'll be both the enemy and the cash cow.  Weird.

Buy at your own risk.

  1. If a politician wanted to remodel it, they'd declare it a "retreat" and get the Socialist Republic of California taxpayers to buy and maintain it. That's how they roll in the Bear State.
