And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
There's the road to Yankee Boy Basin (rock overhang) near Ouray, CO, that I've driven many times that is always amusing, and who doesn't love lady surfers? But motorcycle season is almost upon us and I will dust off the she-Devil and take to the road less traveled, so THAT wins the day for me.
As an aside, I wonder if those mining roads outside of Silverton and Ouray will be open before August this year. The coming Ice Age has done a number on them and at present they're under 15'+. When the glaciation hits, nobody will be able to enjoy them until the ice recedes in 10,000 years. All we can do is burn wood in our homes to keep warm and drive gas guzzlers to try and thwart settled science and keep the land as warm as possible.
Always enjoy your comments, Larry! The Million Dollar Highway Durango>Silverton>Ouray has been one of my favorites since the mid '70s. Nice drive on the bike, weather permitting. Camp spot at Little Molas Lake, and others S. of the divide. Wet your whistle at The Miner's Tavern in Silverton. (Half-track out front and Pinzgauers in the lot next door.) Good eats in Ouray. Plenty of trails in the area.
Well, juvat, some people fly STOL aircraft and I've seen some of those pilots pull off an awful steep approach.
Heck, was in a DeHav Caribou that felt like it was approaching at 50 degrees. Knew something was weird when fighter-pilot dad was holding his breath and white-knuckling really badly and doing that suck the stomach into the lungs thingy.

I believe the 10,000 years is the length of the inter-glacial, the ice age itself is 100,000+ years ...
