Maduro, who started a second term as president this week, has found himself increasingly isolated as countries around the world have called his continued leadership illegitimate.
Juan Guaido, the head of Venezuela's opposition-led Congress, said this week he was prepared to assume the country's presidency on an interim basis and call elections.
A credible alternative to Maduro is needed, and maybe this is the guy. Best wishes to the suffering people in Venezuela. Hopefully they've learned not to vote for the "free stuff" candidate.
Maduro still pays the army and they are loyal to him (or he'd be gone). I suspect that he's paying in specie (gold/silver). So long as they remain loyal, the misery index will climb.
