George McGovern is back!

Or at least his modern equivalent will be soon.

DNC Clips The Wings Of The Superdelegates

Way back in 1972, the Dims nominated McGovern to run for president.  Talk about a red wave, he lost every state but The People's Republic of Massachusetts.

In reaction, the Dims established the super delegates in an effort to head off disastrous picks like this.  Ignore for a moment the philosophical implications of creating a two tiered system to elect candidates, and how that would relate to the reasons the nation was created as a constitutional republic and not a pure democracy (hello, electoral college!).

In a pure democracy, all the loudest and most extreme tend to get the attention, and that means the ragged edge may well be nominated/elected, to the detriment of the country.  This tendency is magnified in the Democratic Party due to their political philosophy.  Case in point: McGovern.  Second case illustrating the evil recently avoided: Bernie Sanders.

Say what you will, but the super delegates, as undemocratic as they are, are like Senators, their very existence aimed at moderating the more extreme and shrill voices and ideas.  Here specifically,  in the Democratic Party, they're aimed at ensuring the nomination of a more centrist candidate who has a better chance of being elected.

Without that, the system runs amok, and brings disaster.  Maybe a Venezuelan level disaster ( think Bernie or Occasional-Cortex running the country).

So, with the brake of the super delegates gone, this should get interesting quickly.

We will see more extreme candidates from the Democrats from here on out, unless they purge the party of the Socialists and overt Communists, and send them on to where they actually belong, in their own parties.

If not, then the few centrists left there will switch to the Republicans, and the rest of the Democratic Party will swing wildly to the left, and perhaps (very hopefully) to a place where they can never be elected to any responsible position outside of Massachusetts, DC and maybe Minnesota.

Needless to say, they'll be fun to watch if they self destruct, as they clearly yearn to do.  It won't be so fun if they actually con the electorate into voting them into power.

Break out the popcorn, this may well be a bumpy ride.

  1. The Democrat party is already in self-destruct mode.

  2. I'd cheer on the self-destruction of the Democrat/Fascist Party if its membership wasn't intent on taking the rest of Western Civilization down with them.
