The Art of Speed - E Type edition

  1. Nice, I haven't seen too many of the champagne color.

When I was a teenager in 70's the guy that lived next door to us was a retired full bird Colonel (Army Aviation). He traded in a silver/gray early 60's XKE for powder blue 1972 XKE with the V12. Both were awesome cars.

  2. My absolute favorite car. I will, however, accept a bobtail Corvette as a substitute.

    1. I have a '74 Stingray and I am fairly familiar with Corvettes. What is a Bobtail Corvette?

  3. Back in 1969 I graduated from high school and the next day I went to work as a computer programmer at City National Bank of Detroit. As I was still living at home I was able to save up a couple thousand dollars for a down payment on my first car. The car I choose was the Jaguar XKE roadster. My dad and I went down to the dealer on the weekend and checked them out. The price was $5500, about double what the cameroe and mustang were going for.
My dad said, that's a lot of money for a car. I replied, Dad I'm making good money and living at home and I work for a bank. If I don't buy this car now, I will never be able to afford something like this again for the rest of my life. On Monday morning I received an invitation from my friends and neighbors to serve in the US Army. I didn't buy the car. And I have never been able to afford one since.
