And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
That my friend is a fire burnout. Used to see these from time to time back in the 70's at OCIR when I was a kid. They put down some gasoline or kerosine and light it at the start of the burnout. This super heats the slicks for better traction, and put on a show for the crowd. Obviously the NHRA does NOT allow you to do this today.
Yeah, they were awesome and looked just like that. The noise and pressure of the exhaust, the smell of the nitromethane, the sight of the flames all combined in a wonderful sensory overload. Much better than the bleach burnouts!
Once they figured out that burnouts not only cleaned the tires but also made the car leaver harder they started putting dowm bleach which ignited. Wasn't long before NHRA mandated water only for burnouts. No fun in those guys ever!
