Know yer pirates, matee!

  1. Teach made himself the most famous pirate in history, and he took 42, maybe 45 ships. And he was merciful. If a ship would heave to, and not give him trouble, he would take the loot, the guns the navigation equipment and leave them alone.
Bartholomew Roberts took over 400 ships! And when he died, the golden age of piracy died with him.
But remember the next time you're watching "the Princess Bride" and they mention the "Dread Pirate Roberts", there is a historical context....

    1. Neat site. Judging from the various Captain's time spans 'in position', I'd say they must have had a terrific pension plan.
