And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I can remember the ice deliveries, from the back of a tarp covered truck. The deliveryman would treat the kids with slivers of ice that came from splitting the blocks.
I'll bet you $28.30 you didn't know that back then, ice delivery truck drivers looked for a sign in your window that you wanted ice. If they saw the sign, they'd stop & deliver the ice to keep your icebox going!
That was an important plot point in two Nancy Drew Detective movies from 1939 (all four of which I highly recommend! They're on YouTube, and very enjoyable.)
