While strolling through the company's website, I found this, which I clearly remember my grandfather wearing. Strangely enough, Stetson calls this the Open Road. Does that mean it was meant for me to get one? I don't know, but now I gotta find a picture of him with this hat on - where is that box of old photos?
My grandfather wore one too. His was dove gray.
ReplyDeleteI'm of an age, with grandchildren, where I need to consider the purchase.
My paternal grand-dad had one of these as well. He passed 10 years before I was born, so all I ever saw was pictures.... hmmmmm.... You may have sold a dozen before this is done!!
ReplyDeleteSweet!!! a true cowman's hat! I have pics of my grandpa & the Cowman's grandpa wearing theirs.
ReplyDeleteHere in Texas that's a Lyndon Johnson....https://www.stetson.com/timeline/the-sixties-a-hatless-president-and-lbj

My dad has one from long before LBJ and it's stamped Open Road, though we call them the cattleman out here. Interesting to learn what they are/were called in different parts of the country.
DeleteI,ve heard em called businessman Stetsons
ReplyDeleteGuys, Jackie Gleason as "Buford T. Justice" in " Smokey and the Bandit".
ReplyDeleteThis oughta be called "the Buford".😀
Don't have one of those, but I inherited my Dad's two Stetsons: a straw model called the Roadrunner, and a Smokey and the Bandit model.
