ReplyDeleteThe venerable Tu-95 is still in service. Then again, so is the B-52.
ReplyDeleteElsewhere on the Internet, I've read that the noise from those engines is so great that it results in severe hearing loss for the crew.
ReplyDelete2 propellers on each engine?
ReplyDelete11,033 Kw equals 14,809 ehp.
ReplyDelete1ehp = 745 watts
Got to see these planes in the MED low with both bomb bays open as they flew low over my ship in the 60's at less than 500 ft. You never new if they were just going to take pictures, drop sona buoys or bombs.
ReplyDeleteWhile in Germany, I heard a very strange sounding airplane overhead. Looked up and saw nothing. Picked up my phone and used the app "Plane Finder", which showed a Bear at 30,000 feet!
