And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Sure that's a Stetson??? maybe from Urban Outfitters... Brixton or Forquet... The Cowman had a beauty of a 7X Stetson, (he inherited it from his grandfather) and our son has it now. A beauty of a hat to this day.
I never specifically said that particular hat was a Stetson, only that a new one is a pleasure. ;-) I might have implied that, however. Am I a bad person?
I was a little confused about Brig's mention of a 7X Stetson and was curious enough to look up the meaning of 7X. Came across a pretty interesting article written by a collector that cleared it up a little for me.
I wouldn't mind having a cowboy Stetson to wear along with my shootin' irons, but I'd look a bit dorky dressing like that in Western PA. Maybe I could move out to Wyoming or Montana where I have relatives. Trouble is that the lovely missus wouldn't want to go with me. I haven't decided yet whether that's a plus or minus........................
My father always told me "Boy! put a hat on that head". Well, didn't really need to for a while, now I do. My son gave me a Real Deal hat made of canvas from covering cargo on trucks in South America, new, it is stained, has frayed edges, and looks like its been run over. lots of character, a lot like me, Hah. I started wearing it everywhere and always got lots of positive comments. I recently got a Stetson, looks much nicer for Church, but hardly gets any comments. Brig is right, be different.
Every gentleman needs a Stetson.
ReplyDeleteI found an old Stetson, half buried in the silty sands along the Willamette River one day. Duck hunting. I still have the hat. 41 years ago. Memories.
DeleteSarthurk,
DeleteDamn, I wish we could post pics in the comments! Would love to see the hat you found, and the ones of the grandpas with theirs.

North Valley Hat Co is the go to hat maker these days.

DeleteYour not a bad person, if you post a photo of a real Stetson or a North Valley...
DeleteDamn... "your" >>> "you're"
DeleteYou're forgiven. Real life Stetson post coming later.

Taminator,
DeleteBe an innovator, wear a Stetson! My grandpa always wore a fedora style one, now days it's all ball caps...
I'm not that brave. The closest I'll get is wearing Stetson Cologne....

If you asked my lovely missus, she would say that I'm different enough already..................
