And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
And the tag on the photograph should read WHISKY. Whiskey is Irish and the last time I looked Oban - one of my favourite towns - was still on the West coast of Scotland!
That is good but I prefer the Balvenie Sherry cask 12 year old or the French Oak cask 16 year old. I don't make the money I used to when I could afford such luxuries. It is more of a Johnny Walker Red or Black lifestyle now.
Most any single malt is good, we are partial to the Irish though. The best we ever had was Bushmills Millennium Malt. Put down in 1975 and sold by the barrel in 2000. We had 8 bottles, saving the last one for a special occasion.
Loved Macallan before they lost their mind with pricing (standard bottle was the 18 yr back when it was $40). Even picked up a 25yr one time for $150. Only scotch in the house now is a Talisker or an Aberlour A'Bunadh. Find bourbon much more interesting for the money.
Is it affordable?

DeleteA very fine dram indeed. Partial to the Laphroaig Quarter Cask myself. Steve_in_Ottawa
ReplyDeleteDitto
DeleteAny Laphroaig, really.
