And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Those kids are going to slip and fall off of there...
The good old days when kids fell, got scraped, bruised and the parents reacted with: "Suck it up buttercup, life is tough". Now it's "Honey get on the cellphone, call our lawyer and ask if we can sue the National Forest Service".
remember mercurochrome and iodine. if you don't, you are not old enough to remember having real fun. mom kept it in her purse and a large supply in the bathroom cabinet, it would cure anything from cuts and scrapes to bubonic plague and she was not afraid to use it. no shit, i got shot in the leg with a .22 when i was 8 or 9, ( in and out, and not real bad ) no trip to the doctor for me. went school the next day.
My first thought was, it would take a lot of work to make that cutout in the tree. Time would have been better spent just cutting it in two and moving it off to the side. But then you'd miss out on that fun little tunnel. And they probably didn't have the equipment to move that big of a log.

ReplyDeletemaking memories.
DeleteNot to worry, kids back in the day "bounced". What generation do you think coined the phrase "hold my beer"?
ReplyDeleteGet down from there. You're gonna put your eye out!
ReplyDeleteWait, is that Elvis?
I once fell off a jungle gym and died. My mother made me walk it off.

DeleteThat car is a Packard. Dunno the year, Dad owned one back in the early 50's. Recognize the front end and grill.
ReplyDeleteThink that car is a 47 or 48 Pontiac.
