  1. I was curious as to how inexpensive they were, so I clicked on the Amazon connection and saw that they were half priced. Then I saw that they were plastic. WTF??? I can see how they are only $25... but plastic drill bits? No way!!!

    1. 81% five star review. Do you have a reason to think these might not work well? Bad experience with this company, or the material they've used to make them? Do tell.

    2. And????? Obviously Bosch wouldn't use it if it wasn't good for the purpose it's meant for. The comments show people do find it sufficient for drilling in wood. You apparently believe it's the same plastic in your water bottle, when it's not. Think about it before you press "publish."

    3. "The spade bits are made from high-quality steel with a contoured paddle design for fast chip removal, providing cleaner holes with reduced breakout." Look at the pictures, ask a single question. They are not plastic.

  2. I have both kinds -- including this exact Bosch set
the Bosch set is very aggressive --note the "worm" drive point -- once it grabs the wood, it forces the bitt thru -- normally a good thing, but if you're trying to "finesse" the drilling (not cutting big chunks), they are too aggressive.
In a drill press you can get enough reverse force to back the bitt up, but with a hand drill, it's tough to do.

And the second set shown is better for "finessing".

    1. Exactly my experience, especially with soft woods - like modern farmed pine. I prefer the old style all-metal ones.

  3. Am I correct in assuming that you’re thinking about drilling some holes???
