  1. "Self-supporting"...?

In America, those were known as Sears Toughskins™.

Tim Allen had some comments about them in his stand-up days, IIRC.

IMHO, plastic in most percentages above a small fraction is generally a poor fabric for inclusion in good clothes, unless one is making bullet- or flame-resistant garments.

    1. Commercial illustrators. Before camera layout ads made them obsolete.

    2. Hadn't thought of myself as obsolete Anon, but I guess you're right. My first
real illustration job was after getting drafted out of college in 1969. Left
      basic training and shipped directly
to the First Infantry Division (Big Red
One) at Fort Riley Kansas with MOS
      Illustrator. Got a job
      with division headquarters as artist/
illustratior. Spent the next 50 years
after finishing my degree in graphics
as artist, designer and sign shop
owner. The progression to the computer was inevitable and has
produced some great art. I just miss
the skill of hand produced art.

  2. When graphics were great.

    And yeah, "self-supporting"??
I guess for the Mr. Loopner types.

  3. Ah, took me a sec. Self supporting, no belt or suspenders needed.
