And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Yes, we used to snowmobile up to our cabin, then we had those kind of tracks installed on our Bombardier (they make them for vehicles now); that's how we got to our cabin in the winter, as we got older. But then we sold it, and went back to snowmobiles. It took too long to get there. It's nice (you're all warm and dry, etc.), but it's pretty slow. Maybe 15 miles an hour if you're careful, but usually only about 10 miles an hour average.
Those track setups can put a LOT of torque on the rest of the drivetrain. More than it was designed to handle. Good way to break a U joint...if your lucky. If you're unlucky you break a pinion gear or something else really tough to fix on the trail.
The real Problem with those Track Sets is they Bolt to the Studs for the Wheels, and the Leverage they put on the Hubs is Extreme- hard On the Steering too.

ReplyDeleteRemember when you could get tracks for a Honda 90 trail bike.
ReplyDeleteIf you live far enough north, makes perfect sense.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense in places that have serious sugar sand, too. Any place that has dry terrain. Hate to try those in serious mud, though.
