And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
On Friday 12th Dec a G3M Nell (as depicted above) force landed near Batangas after suffering combat damage - the crew were captured. Upon being released by the Japanese Army they were stripped of their rank for allowing themselves to be captured. This Nell is accepted as the victim of Jesus Villamor, CO of the 6th Pursuit squadron who had lead 7 P26's into action that day. After this initial action Zeros mauled the P26's with 3 shot down and 2 badly damaged. The Nell was rapidly becoming obsolete even at the start of the war. An example of wishful thinking..
