And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
If it was a frame up restoration I'd have gone with a 12 valve 5.9 Cummins with a New Venture 5 speed. That's a simple combination that gets super fuel mileage when you know how to drive it.
Mileage might be over twice that high. I had a lifted full-sized 1978 Bronco with a 460 and 33s. It got 9 MPG. That is to say, it got 9 MPG in the city, 9 MPG on the highway, 9 MPG with no cargo, and 9 MPG pulling a 7,000 pound trailer. I still haven't quite figured that out.
If it has a computer, replace it. Ford trucks are infamous for funky electronic engine management systems. Rangers and Bronco/F150's can run fine, pass smog checks, and be sucking down TWICE the fuel they should. NOT an exaggeration.
I suspect that might be measured in gallons per mile rather than miles per gallon. But oh would I love to have it as a daily driver
ReplyDeletemaybe a 1970 Ford F600 with 4x4?
ReplyDeletelooking at the rear axle, that appears to be a pickup size rear differential housing.
Deletethe F600 rear ends are much bigger
The doors and bedside indentation suggest a 73 through 79 model. The grill dates to 67 model year.

DeleteTake the LED light bar off the roof would improve the looks.
ReplyDeleteIMO it would look better w/light bar on front bumper. better than the roof?
DeleteA pair of round Cibie lights either on the top of the bumper or on the roof. The bar light does not fit this old a truck.
Delete4 miles per gallon? It's better to measure in smiles per mile.
ReplyDeleteSquirt some flames on that thing!

That truck has nutz!
ReplyDeleteLook at all of em on that wheel.
if it's too pretty to haul gravel in it ain't a truck.
ReplyDeleteGiven the mixture of years and the small diff in the back I wouldn't be surprised if a 7.4 PowerStroke was the power plant.
