The Dream

  1. I have found myself watching a few youtuber/bloggers who are living that dream.

It's interesting to me on so many levels...
I was unaware of the ability to make a living from youtube.
I had no idea about the amount of work that goes into keeping a boat in good shape.
I had given zero thought about the true speed of a sailboat, well the speed when you're going a good distance... 3000 miles is a lot of time at 2-8 mph!
I'd never thought of just buying a sailboat off craigslist and just going for it, taking the learning curve as it comes and heading out into the sunset. But some people do it...
I know the ocean is a dangerous place ( I grew up by the ocean) but I had not really thought about it in anything other than the abstract until I saw the video where a solo sailor had climbed the mast during less than good weather on a passage so she could repair a broken line. It had to be done.

I am happy with my life today....

  2. They're a lot of work, but enjoyable......not sure about the solo thing & climbing the mast is not fun. Spent many summer weekends on a 50' Vagabond. 1 side note, never work for a business owner that owns a 50' Vagabond.
