And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I read that the Brits, which included New Zealanders, used Maori soldiers for prisoner capture forays. They did it a lot before the battle of Al Alemain. Can you imagine being some farm boy or city kid from Berlin or Naples and suddenly a bunch of guys looking just like that jumping into your trench? I think they were pretty successful, they just had to wake up the fainted away kraut or dago troops...
