I well recall seeing the Egyptian section at the Kunst Museum in Vienna, and being impressed by the depth of the carvings they did for stuff like this. Not scratched on the surface, but deeply incised. Truly, the ancient Egyptians planned for the ages.

ReplyDeleteThe Royal Museum of Ontario used to have a full wall from Queen Hatshepsut's tomb. It was huge, detailed, even though it was just a wall of tributes to that queen. My idea of a romantic picnic was on the bench overlooking that wall and being locked in during a blizzard. The details were phenomenal.
