And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
With the exception of the case toward the top right, I own everything there. Yes, even that body and fender hammer. That little plane in the bottom right is probably the newest tool there.
Ditto fellow tool nerds. I think I could duplicate that picture with just about the same amount of rust and wear. I'm only missing a block plane in that small size--have a couple at six inches or so. The case in the upper right is a 1/4" drive ratchet set, and gets regular use. Have a couple fencemans' pliers, one without the rubber handles. The spiral drive screwdriver reverses with the flick of a thumb, or locks at the midpoint.
Ya know your mentioning the 1/4" ratchet set sparked a memory that has been hidden in my mind for many years. My dad had a 1/4" set in beat up box like that. I guess it went the same way as most of my dad's stuff went when he died and my sister was the executor. She didn't give a shit about anything but trying to get as much money out his estate as possible. This was in 1980.
The chisel for us has proven very useful when wood fence posts and wire fencing strands are being stapled. A notch in post for wire to recess into helps prevent it from being raised / lowered, helping to anchor it in place.
Lotta memories for me in that photo. Some of them still in my tool box(s). Batteries? We don' need no stinkin' batteries! (But they are nice to have).
