And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I was a 'monkey' for a few warmish laps on a practice day. It was quite the workout, every muscle and joint was strained just holding on. The sensation of speed when your head is inches off the track is indescribable.
I was invited to try out for the monkey position while racing at Sears Point, CA in the 80's. Driver saw me flinging myself around on my Guzzi Heavy weight/Open Twins racer. Turns out I was too light, only 125 lbs suited up for the track. Literally throwing myself off the side while levering as hard as I could on the clipons was how I got it to turn.
