    1. The black thing on #2 is an engine cozy. Gotta keep those engines from freezing, so you wrap them in basically a sleeping bag and put a heat source (incandescent light or actual heater of some sort) under the wrap. Gotta keep the oil warm or starting is a no bueno.

    1. Yep. start them rich, blow out a lot of unburned fuel, and you get stuff warm and ready to move.

      Next step is an actual start.

    2. Fairbanks or Anchorage, can't see enough of the background to tell which but with that UPS plane in the background it has to be one or the other.

    3. Not unusual to get a stack fire on a cold weather start.It takes pretty heavy use of the primer to get an ignitable mixture. Raw fuel can build up in the exhaust stacks and catch on fire. Procedure is to keep cranking, hope it starts and blows the raw fuel out.
