    1. in typical German engineering fashion, the propeller bearing in the foreground required grease every six hours of operation. while it was rotating. imagine doing that service. a central lube system would have been heavier than a man that would be there none the less, and weight is death in LTA. they were simpler days. anyone who doesn't think the Germans can't engineer a complex bit of kit hasn't looked under the hood of a BMW or Mercedes automobile lately. they would not have just plumbed a line with a zerk on the end of the pipe to the bearing; they would have gone crazy complex on a lube system. German engineers just cannot help themselves.
