  2. I remember watching my Papaw harvesting honey with no protective gear whatsoever. I just thought that was how it was done. He was also a farmer, a preacher and a master carpenter. A much tougher and better man than I’ll ever be.

  3. At our cottage in the late 1950's a hornet's nest (yellow jackets) grew underground beneath a bedroom window. Dad was ready to go for them with smoke but my younger brother, aged 6, took to the nest with a fly swatter first. Fast frantic drive to the little local hospital 50 miles away; 34 stings.
