And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The headwaiter on a cruise ship did that to my now-brother-in-law a while back—and my bro-in-law was wearing a beige suit, at that. Scared the dickens out of him at first but got the rest of us belly-laughing after a shocked second. He started laughing, too, after his heart rate calmed down.
I grew up with guys like that all around our kitchen table...and their wives with beehives and seriously frosted lipstick; skin tanned to the point of shoe leather. GREAT people...GREAT memories.
