  1. The once ubiquitous DC-3. If I remember right, 100 mph was all you needed to remember. That was the velocity for anything important.

  2. Hi CW!!,
GREAT SHOT!! Love the angle and the 2 props in sync. Little do you may realize that it was the DC-3 in the 1970's that allowed the Sport of Skydiving to make a quantum Leap forward!! For $50K you could buy an operational DC-3 and with fuel prices still fairly low back then haul 30 skydivers(@ $10 per head) to 12,500 feet AGL in about 30 minnutes and be back down for the next load......
And at Dropzones ..DC's had Names like "Mr.Douglas," "Southern Cross" but mostly just the last 3 digits of the tail number... "915," "817" "57U"... did I say "57U" It also got nicknamed "57Ugly" and last but not least,"57Undertaker" She blew a Prop blade on takeoff.. Sinko-d-mayo of '84 at Perris Valley Airport!! I know----- I was in her when it happened... and we got the whole thing on tape!! Google around you'll find it!! OhYes... we all got out OK!! I have some of the congealed melted puddles of aluminum from the wreck site on the runway in my archive!!!!!
Two of my Pilot friends Bob and Ron Webb were Pilots at Elsinore an Perris back when they first started flying DC-3's and became known as the "Feather Brother's" as they said, standard operating procedure after take off was to "Feather one engine!!" As Bob said when going for a flying job interview and asked how much DC=3 Time he had he said "Single engine or two????"
Good friends, Great times.... Great Skydiving!!!!!!!

PS Oh YES!! There is the famous "MIKE ALFA!!" (N26MA) You have seen her in a few Hollywood stints ...she was painted that godawful "Krylon Kamo" for the stint in that "Miami Vice" scene and she was shined up so fine that you could use the reflection from her aluminum skin to shave in!! ... and was the plane that the "Flying Elvi" jumped from in "Honeymoon in Los Vegus!!!" Yup that was MIKE ALFA!! She currently resides back at Skydive Perris!!!!! I am happy to say!!!!!!

  3. Looks like photoshop. The tires have a flat spot, it was photographed sitting on the ramp.
