Friday Open Road

  1. In the west there are wagon ruts still visible. When one knows where to look (research the preferred routes) and knows what to look for, it is amazing to see. Of course, many of the roads began as game trails, then dusty tracks, now asphalt carpets.

I remember when a grade on Hwy 395 was freshly paved. The grade is to the north of Mammoth and about a 7 miles descent into the Long Valley Caldera. Too bad I didn't have a skateboard.

  2. In #11, that path looks paved...

#12, she has a rug in front of the tent, that would never occur to me to do that..

3 days ago I saw a Studebaker in a wrecking yard...

  5. Losing a whell while driving
East Anglia in England, was a passenger along with 2 others and the the driver in a Mini Cooper doing 60mph. Saw the wheel drifting off to the left and the other passanger in the back seat thought it was a riot, the driver was white knuckled trying to stop the car.

  7. #4 sure looks like the road out of Jerome, AZ. heading towards Prescott. Pulled off on those pull offs many times to look out over the Verde Valley. Such a beautiful sight.
    Another great FOR, thanks.

  8. It's useful to have a motel and a liquor store in the same building.
