And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
i lived on the ridges above the Avenue of the giants for 30 years. best view is from the back of a pickup, lying on your back looking up as you wind between the tops of the trees. those years were some of the happiest of my life. it was an hour drive to anywhere, and thru the Rockefeller Forest going and coming. 25 mph one lane road. trees were huge. if there was ice and slid into one, you were totaled. if one fell across the road, the road was closed for at least a day.
I went on the Avenue Of The Giants last summer, those trees are still something to see!
