Of course, during a raging snowstorm - it's the Finnish way!

Finnish Field Marshal Mannerheim greeting officers of the Swedish Volunteer Battalion at Hanko during a snowstorm.  The banner of the Swedish Volunteer Battalion can be seen in the background.  Finland, 14 December 1941.

  2. Snow for sure but hardly a 'Raging Snowstorm'.

  3. From the appearance of the banner, looks to be about force 5 or 6 on the Beaufort scale. Parade conditions for Scandinavians.

  4. Saw a company of Norwegian soldiers standing in formation, in a blinding blizzard, on the edge of a runway in Evenes Norway when King Harold the Fifth came in for a visit. Our own airplanes would not land but yet the Kings aircraft swooped in no issues. Tried to get a picture of the King coming off the airplane but it was so snowy out all I got was a giant white mess!!
