North American F-100A at a 45-degree climb.

  1. .... And at the time, going into a sustained climb at 45 degree's was a first-of-its-kind-achievement.
    Today the F-15 is atop the pyramid at raw thrust (last I'd heard....), and if it were possible to stabilize, is capable of launching vertically, engines pointed down to the ground, like a rocket ship.
    THAT my friends, is some thrust.

  4. No, the horizon isn't level (ridgeines don't point downhill).
    That's closer to a 70+° climb
