And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Fire and Snow. Whoever built that did a great job.
Atmosphere, my friend! Heat, the sight of a crackling fire on a chilly day, the smell of wood smoke. Could even cook something on that once it burns down. In a forest environment, there's always fallen wood that needs to be cleaned up and disposed of. Might as well enjoy it.
I have to wonder just what purpose it serves, though, other than consume large amounts of firewood.

DeleteNever seen a two-story fireplace before. I guess the bottom one is the boot-dryer / foot-warmer.
