Chuck Yeager might be in there

  1. Perhaps in the F-100 as he was not a X-15 test pilot.

  2. I have to laugh. They can't call the F-100 a chase plane because not even a bullet can catch that thing once they light the fire.

    Didn't Neil Armstrong rode one?

  3. The F-100 was only there to make sure all was well until the launch....after that it was return to base and wait for the touchdown....

  4. Chuck never flew the X-15, but there are some surprises among those that did.

  5. Crossfield flew the 15, and some other hot stuff. Yeager was in a chase plane behind him on one flight and when Crossfield found himself wrestling snakes, but made it down safely, Yeager said over the radio "How do you like rocket plans now, son."

Saw a Crossfield interview one evening. Crossfield has run an AC into a hanger wall, leading Yeager to say, "The sonic wall is mine. The hanger wall is Crossfield's."

  6. Doesn’t matter it’s faked just like all those shots including the moon landing.
Who sits backwards in a cockpit if there was such an aircraft

  7. An actual question - didn't all the jet fuel at the time leave a telltale black smoke trail regardless of altitude?
