    1. Because most people don't want that simplicity and those jeeps didn't cost very much to build, thus small profit margin as opposed to what is made today.

    2. Because the vehicle 'as is' cannot meet the required lawful modern safety and fuel efficiency standards. Original vehicles are protected by grandfather clauses.   3. I remember back in '82 or so Jeep had a sale, $5999 or $6999? I went down & looked, just a basic jeep. It might have come with a spare tire, might not have.

  4. I have a 1942 CJ2A. I runs, but isn't in that shape.

    I wish I had gone in the direction of restoration when I was a teen and it was my first vehicle.
