The old Griswold skillet is still going strong this morning

  1. I'd kill to have gas to cook on again. Not available here...

    1. I've only had gas since moving here a year ago. Works great, although Mrs. CW had an interesting and rather dramatic experience spraying Pam on a skillet while the gas was on underneath. After checking to see if she still had eyebrows, we laughed about how that never happened with electric stoves.

  2. Griswold skillet? I didn't think Chevy Chase was a gourmet cook.

  3. Those eggs need a fine grind of black pepper. I bit the bullet and purchased an Induction range. As quick and responsive as gas without the impurities that can be in natural gas. It spreads the heat better but will not work with aluminum. I just ordered and got a metal plate that is supposed to work to heat up and it transfers heat to not magnetic pans.

  4. Griswold No. 8 is just about the perfect everyday skillet. Mine lives on the range most of the time.

    1. I looked up the company stamp on the internet once, on a collector's forum. It's from the 20's. I found it in my parent's house, cleaned it up and put it back to use.

    Now I got the hungers...
Out here in rural Alaska, we use a propane stove/oven.
