    1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mach_Loop

"The Mach Loop (also known as the Machynlleth Loop) is a series of valleys in the United Kingdom in west-central Wales, notable for their use as low-level training areas for fast jet aircraft and propeller-driven aircraft."

  2. In the 1980s in Germany from the top of one of the Teutoburger Wald hills I watched a USAF Phantom on a training run do that through the valley. The plane was so low I was looking down on it. A surprising, almost shocking incident, because you don't really hear the thing until it's right there, then it roars by making incredible amounts of noise, then it's gone.

  3. Been through this area on numerous occasions, but sadly I never got to see the MACH-LOOP demo flights.

  4. I've been there twice. Watched some US aircraft go through, amazing sight. Second visit saw some RAF planes, Typhoons, go through. One was so low that everyone watching thought that it was going to crash, turned out later that the pilot was fined for scorching the hill-side heather, it's a protected area!
