Biggest airplane of it’s time, “Maksim Gorky,” over Red Square, Moscow, 1934.

  1. I think that's May Day,1935.

There were smaller planes flying with it, and one of them collided with it, causing both to crash.

    1. It both cases, "It" is the Maksim Gorky.

There were actually 3 planes with the Gorky.
One them was doing aerobatics -- and screwed the pooch.

    2. "It's" means "it is," which was the point of my snark. The first phrase translates "Biggest airplane of it is time..." which doesn't make sense, does it?
