And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Is there a reason why you should put your hand so close to the muzzle? Seems like a good way to lose a finger.
Well, supposedly, extending the length of the arm-gun triangle makes for a more stable platform. Imagine a M-1, M-14 or Mosin-Nagant instead of the M4gery and you'll see it's what the shooter is doing, kinda, sorta. But if you need that stable of a gun platform, you need a longer rifle.
His left arm is blocking his non-sight picture, which is also a stupid thing to do operationally.
Better would be a handgrip or some hand-stip on the forearm to keep you from losing fingers or flesh (to hot barrel, or hot gasses.) Or get a longer gun.

It's okay with me, they are not my fingers. I would also deeply resent any tax dollars spent on trying to repair the damage caused by such foolishness. There is no good reason to have any body parts that close to muzzle flash hot gasses and in case of a stumble, flying bullets. I do not mention that the guy is acting like some combat guy and there is no damned way to want a body part that close to the muzzle where fire might be coming back at you.
No good reason to do that.
ReplyDeleteSure there is a good reason to do that. It makes you look like an operator operating operationally.

DeleteYabut doesn't a vertical foregrip make it an AOW?
Vertical, yes: angled, no
Delete"But vertical grips are so operatingly operator!"
DeleteA prime example of laws that don't make sense. "Eighty-nine degrees good, ninety degrees bad."

ReplyDeleteIt's done for the same reason you roll the support hand forward on a pistol: stable shot and quick re-acquisition.
ReplyDeleteYes, you have to be careful to avoid being burned.
No, follow-up shots were not as fast/accurate unless I remembered to do this.
YMMV
Dumbassedry.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome
It's tacti-cool!
