The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Slavic (Russian?) chick? That looks like Cyrillic lettering on the bench. The backwards "R", which is the sound "yah" in Russian, the "m", which is a t when Russian is written in cursive, but a normal M sound when printed, are dead giveaways, IIRC.
