And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

How much would you have to pay for something this cool?
When I was in high school we lived near Manhattan and a few guy would occasionally catch the bus from NJ to Manhattan on a Saturday to have some "fun'. After arriving at the 176th street bus terminal we'd hop on a subway to The Village and China town to by firecrackers. On one trip we found a display just like the one pictured here. Needles to say we all emptied our pockets and bought one. I think they cost $1. Push-Buttons were illegal in NJ and when my mother discovered mine it was confiscated. But before it disappeared it was great to put on torn T-shirt then my Levis, thread the garrison belt s the buckle rode over my left hip, my motorcycle boots and slick a Duck's ass down with a little Brylcreem and finally don my coveted rivet studded Leather M.C. jacket. Off to town to stand around flickin' that knife trying to impress the girls in their poodle skirts and bobby socks. life was good.
I had the yellow one at the top. My Uncle Dave, mom's youngest brother, gave it to me when I was about 10 years old. Dad freaked out and took it off me. Found it again in dad's junk box in the closet a few years later. I used to act like a tough guy and carry it in my boot. Played with it so much that the spring final broke..........
Not sure "Shur Snap" is a good name for a knife; makes me think of brittle blades.

ReplyDeleteHuh. My dad had the third knife down on the right hand side. The spring eventually broke. I don't know what became of it.
